GOI Immersion Internship

What to expect

The GOI Immersion Internship is a 3-6 month program that allows intern to experience long-term missionary life through immersive experiences. Interns will spend an extended period of time on at least one GOI field ministry team, learning to serve local communities and share gospel alongside GOI mission partners. In addition, interns will engage in a reflection and learning process with a GOI mentor that will help the intern learn how to think and engage missionally with the changing dynamics of our world.

Qualifications:

A qualified internship candidate is seriously exploring the possibility of long-term service on the mission field. They have read and are in agreement with GOI’s Statement of Faith. Candidates should aspire to live holy, surrendered lives to God. Candidates should be committed Christians for at least 6 months.

Must be competent in written and spoken English, and willing to engage in on-field immersive foreign language learning. Candidates need to be comfortable with communicating with English speakers of varying competency levels and accents. Knowledge of Mandarin Chinese is a plus.

Qualified internship candidates are current active participants in a local church or missions organization and its ministries, and have been baptized or confirmed by their church.

GOI Immersion interns serve on the field in sometimes rugged conditions, and will not always have constant social contact with people in their countries of origin. Qualified candidates are prepared to live a simple life without constant access to the internet. Candidates must be sufficiently physically, emotionally and spiritually fit to withstand the rigors of field life and ministry.

Candidates need to be willing to read and write extensively for the reflection and learning component of the GOI Immersion internship.

GOI Immersion Interns represent Christ and the GOI organization. Candidates should possess servant attributes, be a team player who is able to work well with others in a cross-cultural context, and be willing to submit and learn from others, including those from different cultures.

GOI Immersion Intern candidates must be passport holders who are willing and able to travel extensively and  internationally, utilizing whatever mode of transportation GOI leadership and field leadership deems necessary.
